The Somers Point Arts Commission is proud to announce that award winning artist, Betsy Naumchik, will be offering a four-session, skills development Watercolor Basics Workshop, for those interested in learning how to paint with watercolor. You are asked to attend ALL four sessions as each builds upon the other.
Saturdays - June 1, 8, 15 and 29
10am to noon
Somers Point Senior & Community Center, 22 N. Ambler Road, Somers Point
There will be a non-refundable charge of $50 to enroll.

Confirmation will then be given after the receipt of your $50.
What You Will Learn during the four sessions:
Lesson 1 - Basic introduction to watercolor, materials and their uses. Exploring different papers. Experimenting with techniques - dry brush, wet on wet, masking, salt, mask. Building test strips as reference.
Lesson 2 - Introduction to keeping a sketchbook/ journal. Incorporating the use of watercolor pens and fine line pens. Creating a small piece by following along with the instructor. Layout of image to be used by participants as a final piece.
Lesson 3 - Participants will begin individual painting pieces as the instructor guides & oversees their progress
Lesson 4 - Participants will finish their watercolor piece. Participants mount and mat their work.

This group will meet monthly, the third Sunday of the month, from 10:00am to 11:30am, at the Somers Point Senior Center, 22 N. Ambler Road, Somers Point.

who are we?
The Somers Point Arts Commission was formed by the City of Somers Point in 2013 by Ordinance #13-2006, Resolution #99-2013. Its mission is to provide, promote and cultivate the Arts in Somers Point through support and coordination of community services and resources. Additional functions, purposes and goals exist to market and promote the City's cultural and performing arts.
The Arts Commission consists of 9 members who are appointed by City Council by resolution at the January reorganization meeting each year or at any subsequent regular meeting. Meetings are held the 4th Monday of the month (except in Dec.) at City Hall at 6PM. The public is invited and will have an opportunity to comment. Minutes are taken at each meeting and are on file at the City Clerk’s Office. They are available to the public upon request.
